COCA: Centre of Contemporary Art

The Centre of Contemporary Art is currently closed following the earthquakes of 2011. Engineering reports have been completed and repairs will begin when we have access to the building following the demolition of the neighbouring Gallery Apartments.

Due to the ongoing temporary closure of the gallery, the Trust has been looking at a transitional programme of on and off-site projects involving local artists and curators.

NEW ART PROJECTS
We are thrilled to announce that CNZ have confirmed their support for our first two window projects. Chloe Geoghegan is the curator for both projects. In the first project Ed Lust will present a double projection film work, Secular Variations in the front gallery window. A multimedia project by Sam Eng follows. Initially it was hoped to have the window projects begin in November however with the current restricted access to the building we now anticipate this to be February/March.

It is hoped that window projects will become a permanent feature of COCA and together with a street front café provide an exciting and stimulating meeting place for artists and art lovers. COCA will continue to inform, inspire and engage audiences with contemporary art.
